Favicons are small 16*16pixel Windows Icons so you need to be able to make .ico format files. There are wide number of programs available for making favicons. In this tutorial however I'll show you how to make your own favicons with Photoshop and Windows Icon (ICO) file format plugin . However, if you don't have Photoshop you can use the free service at http://www.html-kit.com/e/fa... which allows you to make a favicon from any GIF or JPEG format picture
